Over the course of five days without a vehicle, our event participants will use Uber, Lyft, Taxi, MAT bus, friends, family, bicycles, neighbors, walking, etc. to go about their daily routines and share about the experience with their networks of people.
Each participant is challenged to try to raise $5,000 for our organization by simply inviting their network of friends, colleagues, and family, to give on your behalf. The participant that helps raise the most money will be honored for their participation.
Choose a participant and support them with a Park It For A Purpose sponsorship. You are also welcome to write and mail or drop off a check and write the name of the participant on the memo line.
Your generosity will help us solve the transportation issues of those most in need in Fargo-Moorhead.

Why I participate:
I’m someone who believes that having reliable transportation can make a life-changing difference. Through my work in the automotive industry and my involvement with Fix It Forward Ministry and Fix it Forward Auto Care, I’ve seen firsthand how a vehicle breakdown can put a family’s job, school, and everyday life at risk.
Fix It Forward Ministry is more than fixing and donating cars —it’s about helping people get back on their feet and giving them an opportunity to move forward. I’m passionate about bringing people together, using the skills and resources we have, and finding ways to help those in our community who are struggling.

Why I participate:
Anyone who knows me knows I love cars. So voluntarily parking mine for five days might have a few people wondering if I’m feeling okay. But Fix It Forward is a cause I’m always willing to show up for, even if this time I have to catch a ride.
Reliable transportation means getting to work, making appointments, and taking care of your family. I’m participating to better understand the challenges our neighbors face and help give someone else that freedom and independence.
Plus, how many different ways can I get to work in five days? Hitch a ride, hop on a bus, dust off a Skateboard… Walter and Ozzie look like a sled team, but their commitment to following directions is questionable.
I’ll survive five days without my cars, but I reserve the right to talk about them.
Meet Mike:
Hey, I’m Mike! I’m a car enthusiast—which is the polite way of saying obsessed. I like my cars to stand out, and if there’s a car show nearby, there’s a good chance I’m already there explaining why we should stay “just five more minutes.”
Whenever Fix It Forward needs a hand, I’m there. I’m also the unofficial merchandise guy for Fix It Forward. Apparently, saying “I’m happy to help” enough times gets you promoted to “Ask Mike, he’s got the shirts!”
I’m married to Dawn, and we have two amazing huskies, Walter and Ozzie. I love great cars, good people, and showing up for a cause that helps our neighbors keep moving.

Amanda Krautkremer is a God-fearing wife + mom of 2 wonderfully chaotic kiddos, plus John Cena. Our pit bull terrier who clearly has never heard of personal space. I am participating in Park It For a Purpose because I want to help support one of our church partner ministries in Fix-It Forward, and I want to experience something that many in our community face on a daily basis. I can definitely take for granted that my family has 2 vehicles, and I can hop in and drive to places that I need to go without much thought or decision. This experience will help bring a renewed gratitude and appreciation for what I have been given but also provide further awareness about challenges that others face.
I have served as one of the pastors at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church for the past 4 years. My wife and I have been married for 15 years, and we have 3 kids in 6th grade, 4th grade, and 1st grade. In my free time I really enjoy playing and watching sports, watching my kids in their activities, hanging out with family and friends, board games, outdoor projects, and a good book.

Chris Leingang serves as the Campus Ministries Pastor at Triumph in West Fargo. He and his wife, Carrie, moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area from Washington State and love exploring new places, trying new foods, and enjoying the outdoors. Whether it's hiking a trail, camping, discovering a great local restaurant, or exploring the hidden gems of a small town, they're always up for a new adventure.
I'm participating in Park It for a Purpose because I believe in the work Fix It Forward Ministry is doing in our community. My family has experienced the challenges of insufficient and unreliable transportation, whether that meant relying on public transit or sharing rides because we only had one vehicle. I know how much reliable transportation can mean to a family, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to support a ministry that's making a real difference in people's lives.
Pastor Jay:
Campus pastor at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in West Fargo. My wife, Amy, and I have served churches in Minnesota, Florida, and Washington, and we’re grateful to have served the Fargo-Moorhead community for the past six years.
Reliable transportation can be the difference between holding a job, getting kids where they need to go, and feeling stuck. Giving up my car for a few days is a small glimpse of what some of our neighbors deal with every day, and I want to help Fix It Forward make getting back on the road possible for people who can’t afford the repairs on their own. I care a lot about people who are hurting or overlooked, and I’ve seen how much it matters when someone shows up with practical help and sticks around.
Pastor Kirk:
I returned to serve Triumph as the Senior Associate Pastor, after serving as a pastor in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for 10 years. I still bleed purple for the Vikings! My wife Julie and I have three grown children and are over the moon grateful to be nearer our 7 grandchildren.
I am a part of this campaign because not having a reliable vehicle is a true challenge to go about not only getting to work, but important errands, and meeting people.

My name is Doug Rogness, I serve as the Lead Pastor at Triumph Church in Moorhead and West Fargo. My wife and I have been married for 22 years and have call the Fargo-Moorhead area home for all those years. We love this community, and love what Fix It Forward Ministry does for those living here!
The days that one of our cars is in the shop are difficult days to manage. Dropping someone at work, picking up kids for activities, and running to the store. Park it for a Purpose doesn't introduce a new inconvenience to our family, but it makes the inconvenience have a purpose. I know I'll be thinking about the families impacted as I bum rides and hop on my bike!

Why I participate:
I chose to Park It For A Purpose because I grew up with good friends and neighbors whose reality meant having no car and walking or getting rides where they needed to go. The cost of a car or simply the maintenance was unaffordable for them.
This challenge will be a humbling reminder for me as I put my friends' shoes on and experience walking (literally) a week in their shoes.

Hey! I'm Elaina! I work as the Listener Engagement Director and Co-Host of the Morning Show on Life 97.9. I get to tell stories, talk about Jesus, laugh a lot, and connect with people! My main goal is to provide connections to our listeners and the community, that could be community events, concerts, donation drives, interviews, coffee meetings, and beyond.
I’m a rechargeable introvert. I LOVE coffee, but I’ll never turn down a tea. I’m super competitive, but I lack general ability. I love to laugh and have a blast with friends, and I also love talking about the deep stuff. I talk a lot… but I’m a listener, so I love getting to hear your story!

Why I participate:
Spending time without my vehicle will help me appreciate some things that I have been blessed with. It will share challenges that some others deal with and raise awareness for what Fix It Forward is doing to help those in need of transportation in our community.

I am inspired by people who would find a way to make it happen, no matter their circumstances, which allows them to provide to their families. I look forward to walking a mile and their shoes just like Christ has asked us to do since the beginning of time. It will also help me be a better storyteller on the radio.

Why I participate:
Owning a car is something that so many, including myself, can take for granted. Some aren't so fortunate. I truly admire those who make it work despite not having a vehicle. I believe taking a few days without a vehicle will give me a better perspective on how difficult it can be to get daily tasks/needs accomplished. I'm looking forward to helping raise awareness of what Fix-It-Forward is doing for those in need in our community!
Meet Russ:
I'm excited to say I've been a part of the Fargo-Moorhead community for just over two years! I work as the Chief Meteorologist at Valley News Live. When I'm not forecasting weather, you can find me training for my next have marathon, or with my wife Heather, walking our dog Butters in some of the lovely neighborhoods in our community. I have three wonderful twenty-something kids and three amazing grandsons.
Without reliable transportation, it is difficult to get or maintain a job, and without a job, it is hard to maintain your independence and dignity. As one might imagine, transportation issues are huge in our community and the need is overwhelming. Unlike many bigger cities, people often can't just take a bus to work, school, or appointments because our public transit system has limited hours and locations. Additionally, utilizing public transportation can take hours. This creates challenges when trying to get kids to daycare and get to work. It is especially challenging for single parents.
Fix It Forward Ministry (formerly Higher Power Automotive Ministries) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity located at Fix It Forward Auto Care in Fargo, ND. Our goal is to remove the transportation barrier for the most in need members of our community thus helping enable them to be independent and self-sufficient. This is accomplished in two ways. First by providing free car repairs to needy individuals, to help keep their vehicles on the road and safe. Second by repairing donated vehicles and giving them to needy members in our community who do not have a vehicle or whose vehicle is beyond repair. We utilize volunteer labor, discounted parts, and charitable donations to cover the costs of repairs.
We truly are Driven To Serve, both the in need and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Park It For A Purpose is a fantastic event to raise both money and awaresness of the transportation need in our community.
